The Board wish to acknowledge the commitment of staff, the support of the parents/guardians and the enthusiast co-operation of the pupils who work together to make our school so successful.
The Board manages the school on behalf of the Patron and is accountable to the Patron and the Minister. School accounts are audited and certified in line with DES guidelines. The Board consists of two nominees of the Patron, two parent nominees, the Principal of the school, one teachers’ nominee and two community nominees. Paul Nolan chairs the Board. The Board is appointed for a four year term. The term of office for the current Board is from 1 December 2015 to 30 November 2019.
The Board has overall responsibility for school policies which are reviewed regularly. See Policy section.
The Board has ratified a Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment for the school and a copy of the school’s Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment which includes the names of the designated liaison person (DLP) and deputy DLP is available to all school personnel and the Parents’ Association and is readily accessible to parents on request. An annual review of the Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment is undertaken by the Board.
Under the Education Act 1998, it is the responsibility of the Board to arrange for the preparation of a school plan and to ensure that it is regularly reviewed and updated. The Board is also required to regularly oversee the teaching and learning in the school and to ensure ongoing evaluation and review of both the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the school and of the Board itself.
A whole school evaluation was undertaken by the Department of Education and Skills in 2013.
