World Book Day 2026

World Book Day 2026 at Our School

We were delighted to celebrate another wonderful World Book Day filled with stories, creativity, and a shared love of reading.

A highlight of the day was a visit from Liz, a storyteller from Dublin Libraries, who captivated students with her lively and imaginative tales. Her sessions brought magic into the classroom and sparked excitement across all year groups.

Our Buddy Reading initiative with the Senior School was another special moment. Older pupils paired with younger classes to read together, building confidence, connection, and a sense of community.

1st Class showed incredible creativity by redesigning book covers featuring their own faces. These imaginative artworks are now proudly displayed in the school, bringing smiles to everyone who passes by.

Across the school, pupils engaged in a range of literacy activities:

  • Writing thoughtful book reviews
  • Bringing in and sharing their favourite books
  • Book Talk Led by teachers
  • And enjoying peaceful DEAR time (Drop Everything And Read)

World Book Day was a fantastic celebration of reading, imagination, and the joy that books bring. Thank you to all staff, students, families, and to Liz from Dublin Libraries for making the day so memorable.
